The life of 14-year-old Anna Mishchenko from Bucha was cut short in the spring of 2022, while 5-year-old Nicole Haranska from Kyiv met her fate in 2025.

At the Museum of History of the Mikhailivsky Golden-Domed Monastery, an exhibition titled "They Painted the Sky" was presented, telling the heartwarming story of two Ukrainian girls. This was reported by the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration.

14-year-old Anna Mishchenko from Bucha dreamed of becoming an artist. Her life ended tragically in March 2022, when she, along with her mother and a volunteer, was shot by Russian soldiers while evacuating on Yablunska Street in Bucha.

5-year-old Nicole Haranska from Kyiv painted rainbows as a symbol of hope. Her life was also cut short in March 2025, as she died with her father in a house that was burned during shelling. The family had moved to Kyiv from the Zaporizhzhia region.

Both girls did not have the chance to grow up, but their drawings convey an important message — the ability to see the sky even in times of darkness.

The exhibition showcases their works, allowing visitors to feel their energy. It serves as a memory of the children whose lives were taken by war, and a reminder of dreams that never came to fruition.

The exhibition was organized by the "Thank You from the Heart" platform and the "Ukrainian Family" foundation with the blessing of Archbishop Vladyka Agapit.
