On June 6 at 18:00, the PEN Ukraine space in Kyiv (Lukyanivska St, 14-A) will host the opening of Dmytro Kozatsky's photography exhibition titled "I Hate to Photograph". More details can be found on the event's Facebook page.

During the event, there will be a public discussion with Dmytro where attendees can ask questions and learn more about the role of a photographer in war and how photography can capture moments and truths.

The discussion will be moderated by Alim Aliyev, a journalist, human rights advocate, and cultural project manager. He serves as the Deputy General Director of the Ukrainian Institute and is the founder of the literary project "Crimean Fig".

Dmytro "Orest" Kozatsky is a Ukrainian veteran and military photographer whose works from "Azovstal" have gained international recognition. After a prolonged captivity by Russian forces, he was released in 2022 and continues his active cultural engagement. His photography has received several accolades, including two International Photography Awards. The photograph "Light Will Prevail" was named one of the best of 2022 by The Guardian and made it to Time magazine’s list of the "100 Best Photos of 2022".

Participation requires a voluntary charitable contribution and registration.

During this event, the organizers are supporting Dmytro Kozatsky's fundraising for the medical service of "Azov".
