Over 200 unique artifacts obtained by Ukrainian soldiers in fierce battles will enter history as symbols of courage and evidence of Russian aggression.
Recently, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II officially received artifacts that will enhance its collection.
Commander of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine, Major Oleg Shyriayev, personally handed over about 200 items, including fragments of enemy drones, personal weapons of Russian soldiers, equipment, insignias, and even medals.
During the event, the major shared the origins of these artifacts and the combat path of his regiment.
«Each artifact — a living history of our struggle. They remind us of the fierce battles and the price of freedom. These trophies will serve as crucial evidence of aggression, helping future generations to comprehend the events of war and the heroism of our defenders», — stated Major Oleg Shyriayev.
The museum's director, Yuriy Savchuk, thanked the military for the historical artifacts, emphasizing their crucial role in preserving historical memory. They will provide knowledge about the war and the heroics of Ukrainian soldiers.
«Preserving historical artifacts is not only our duty but also a means to convey the truth to future generations. Each exhibit — a voice from the past, recounting events and reminding us of the spirit, resilience, and fight for freedom», — noted Yuriy Savchuk.
This event marks another step in preserving the memory of the heroism of Ukrainian soldiers who defend the independence of Ukraine daily.
It is worth noting that the 225th battalion, formed on March 8, 2022, united volunteers who stood up to defend their homeland.
In July 2023, the battalion transitioned from territorial defense to the status of a Separate Assault Battalion of the Ground Forces after playing a key role in counteroffensive operations around Bakhmut.
Currently, the 225th SAB is actively participating in the Kursk operation, being the first unit to breach the enemy's border.
On February 4, 2025, the battalion was officially designated as the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.
