Call for Support: The League of Ukrainian Women in America

The League of Ukrainian Women in America calls on the U.S. presidential administration to reconsider its decision to suspend aid to Ukraine.

“We urge the U.S. Congress to publicly and decisively support Ukraine by restoring military and humanitarian assistance, as well as sharing intelligence with this ally currently facing aggression,” the statement emphasizes.

The U.S. decision could lead to the “destruction of political norms, international relations, and alliances” that ensure the security of the States and maintain global stability established since World War II, the organization stresses.

“A sudden and unilateral halt to military aid to Ukraine will not only deal a devastating blow to the country but will also undermine the reputation of the U.S. and destroy the trust of allies that has been built over 80 years,” the statement reads.

Refusing to support Ukraine demonstrates “weakness and unreliability of the U.S.,” strengthening the positions of adversaries such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China, to the detriment of the United States itself.

“This is a catastrophic path not only for Ukraine but also for the security of the U.S.,” the organization emphasizes.

The U.S. Congress is obligated to defend the system of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution and to demand that the president uphold international commitments and comply with enacted laws, the authors of the statement remind us.

On March 3, 2025, President Donald Trump ordered the suspension of all military assistance to Ukraine – assistance that had already been approved by Congress and promised to Ukraine by the previous U.S. president, Joe Biden.
