The Munich Security Conference 2026 is generating significant interest against the backdrop of global events, evidenced by its strong representation.
Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger announced the latest participation data during a press conference in Berlin.
Organizers anticipate around 200 representatives from governments of approximately 120 countries, including nearly 60 heads of state and government, 56 foreign ministers, and over 30 defense leaders, along with heads of more than 40 international organizations.
Ischinger outlined the key topics for the conference: Germany's role in Europe and the world; Europe's ability to independently represent its interests on the international stage; and transatlantic relations.
He described these relations as facing a "significant crisis of trust." In this context, he expressed satisfaction with the strong representation from the U.S. delegation, which includes over 50 members of Congress, governors, mayors, and government representatives led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a national security advisor to the U.S. president. "Our invitation policy extends far beyond Washington because America is not just the White House," the former German ambassador to the U.S. noted.
Regarding Europeans, Ischinger expressed a desire to see initiatives from both within and outside the European Union, involving countries like the UK and Canada, to demonstrate that Europeans have finally grasped the consequences of the "catastrophic emergency that Ukraine is currently experiencing," as it approaches its fifth year of war.
Officially, the Ukrainian delegation is expected to be led by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The 62nd Munich Security Conference will take place from February 13 to 15, 2026. MSC was founded in 1963.
