Ukraine has received 21 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia. The transfer of the vehicles took place in Riga at the «Adazi» military base during a working visit by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.
The transferred vehicles will immediately be integrated into the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Overall, by 2025, Ukraine is set to receive all 42 promised armored vehicles from Latvia.
Additionally, Latvia has delivered another 12 CVR(T) combat reconnaissance vehicles as part of a previously announced military aid package.
Shmyhal thanked Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprudns, the government of Latvia, and all Latvians for their exceptional level of support.
“We greatly appreciate every step taken alongside us. The struggle continues, and the aggressor is intensifying pressure. We must collectively face this challenge,” he stated.
Shmyhal also expressed gratitude to his Latvian friends for an additional contribution of €2.2 million to the PURL initiative and financial assistance for the Coalition of Shelters.
He highlighted the importance of participating in NATO's «Renovator» project to rebuild five military rehabilitation centers in Ukraine.
Furthermore, the defense minister mentioned that he hopes for the implementation of funding through the so-called reparations loan from frozen Russian assets.
“Decisive joint actions are needed on this issue, as it concerns the security of both Ukraine and other European countries,” Shmyhal concluded.
