The Czech volunteer organization known as Darek pro Putina ("Gift for Putin") successfully raised the necessary funds to purchase the Ukrainian missile "Flamingo" in just two days. This was reported by the initiative's organizer, Martin Ondracek, in a comment to Novinky.
“We expected to gather the amount in a week, but it happened much faster than we anticipated - in just 48 hours!“ Ondracek stated.
He also mentioned that he plans to engage in new negotiations with the manufacturer of the "Flamingo" missile, Fire Point. Ondracek emphasized that they have an agreement which will be a surprise for those who contributed to the initiative. However, details remain undisclosed.
Interestingly, the missile funded by ordinary Czechs will be named DANA 1 in honor of the renowned scientist Dana Drabova.
The idea of dedicating the weapon to the famous Czech scientist is not coincidental. Two years ago, Drabova told members of the initiative that she would not mind if a type of weapon was named after her in the future.
The “Gift for Putin” initiative was launched back in 2022 by investor Dalibor Dedek, and journalist Ondracek handles its organization. Recently, activists announced the beginning of a new fundraising effort for the purchase of a Ukrainian missile.
