On Monday, October 20th, an explosion occurred at the «Lukoil» (Petrotel Lukoil) oil refinery located in Ploiesti, Romania. One worker was reported injured. This information comes from Digi24.
The explosion took place in the economic operator's area of the refinery, but there was no fire.
A mobile intensive care team assisted a 57-year-old man who was conscious but suffered facial and leg injuries. The victim was quickly transported to the city hospital.
It is noted that major repairs had begun at the plant a few days prior to the incident.
This event comes against the backdrop of widespread attacks by Ukrainian drones on oil refineries in Russia, leading to a significant fuel crisis in the country. Fuel sales restrictions have been implemented in several Russian regions and occupied Ukrainian territories, with authorities even forced to ban exports.
The fuel shortage has resulted in the closure of numerous gas stations, particularly in Moscow. According to Russian media, at least 57 regions are already feeling the effects of the gasoline shortage caused by the shutdown of refineries. To partially stabilize the situation, the Kremlin has even resumed gasoline purchases from Belarus.
