The streaming giant Netflix has entered into a partnership with the music streaming service Spotify. As reported by Variety,
the specifics of the agreement, including licensing terms, have not been disclosed.
Under this agreement, Netflix will stream some of Spotify's popular video podcasts, including content from The Ringer network, which covers sports and pop culture.
The companies have announced plans to gradually add more podcasts in various genres.
Video podcasts will be available on Netflix in the US starting in early 2026, with other countries to follow later.
This shift towards video podcasts by Netflix is happening as podcasters, who traditionally focused on audio, are now incorporating more video to boost audience engagement.
Meanwhile, Spotify encourages creators to distribute their shows as video episodes, while YouTube is emerging as the primary platform for podcast distribution.
According to a recent study by Cumulus Media, 72% of podcast listeners prefer video content.
