As part of the NATO Falcon Autumn exercises in Poland, Dutch military forces detected unfamiliar drones flying over their camp. According to reports from Ukrinform, this complicated communications among the troops.
"We encountered suspicious drones during the exercises. The Dutch Ministry of Defence confirmed this information following a report in the AD newspaper," stated a spokesperson for the ministry.
The publication also notes that the soldiers lacked any means to defend against drones. Defense systems were sent from the Netherlands shortly after the incidents.
"There was no immediate threat. We are located at a safe distance from the Russian border. We swiftly drew conclusions and made adjustments," said Brigadier General Frank Grandia.
The Air Mobile Brigade of the Dutch Armed Forces has been participating in the large-scale NATO Falcon Autumn exercises alongside Poland and the United States. As troops set up camp at the airfield, drones suddenly appeared, but the identity of those responsible for their launch remains unknown.
"We are aware that there are parties highly interested in our activities and monitoring the exercises," added Grandia.
Additionally, changes were made to the exercises, and the drones flew away shortly thereafter.
