The systematic intrusion of drones into the airspace of the European Union highlights the urgent need for the establishment of a "drone wall" to protect all EU member states.
This was stated by European Commission spokesman Toma Renier during a briefing in Brussels on October 3, commenting on the emergence of unidentified drones in Belgium, as reported by a correspondent from "European Truth".
"The entire European Union is under threat," remarked spokesman Toma Renier.
Renier stated that the European Commission is aware of the situation in member states and maintains political contacts with them.
"It is up to the member states to investigate and determine the origins of these drones and the risks they may pose to their specific territories," said the EC spokesman.
Renier emphasized that the recent drone incursions into EU airspace "once again underscore the need for a 'drone wall,' as discussed by President (of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen - 'ET') and Commissioner Kubilius in Denmark, to protect the entire European Union."
He also added that such incidents have occurred not only in Belgium but also in Germany.
"We are no longer talking about frontline countries. We are no longer talking about the eastern flank countries. We are truly discussing the European Union as a whole," stressed Toma Renier.
