With Norway's support, a training center for the Ukrainian military has been established in southeastern Poland, near the border with Ukraine, capable of accommodating 1,200 soldiers at a time.
The opening ceremony of the training center (Camp Jomsborg) took place on Wednesday, attended by officials from Ukraine, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, and Iceland, as reported by the Polish Ministry of Defense.
«The launch of the center showcases the ability to train a large number of Ukrainian soldiers in a convenient location - the Subcarpathian region near Ukraine, on a training ground that is now starting a new chapter in its life», - noted the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Polish official expressed gratitude to Norway for swiftly bringing this idea to fruition. He emphasized the importance of allies benefiting from Ukrainian experience.
«Next to us is a runway for launching drones. There are opportunities to study the ongoing war experience in Ukraine, implement the best solutions for countering drones, and utilizing drones that the Ukrainian army possesses», - Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized.
The center is located at the Demba-Lipa Land Forces Training Center. It was established as part of an international initiative by the Norwegian Armed Forces with Poland as the host country.
As highlighted by the Polish Ministry of Defense, the center represents another element of allied support for Ukraine and allows for continued cooperation in building defense capabilities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Mironenko.
