The eastern part of Taiwan has been hit by heavy rains brought by Typhoon «Ragasa»: at least 14 people have died, and 124 are reported missing.

Interior Minister Liu Shih-fan stated on Tuesday evening that the overflow of a barrier lake has damaged public facilities and buildings, and he ordered services to conduct rescue operations, restore services, and provide assistance so that residents of Hualien County can quickly return to normal life.
Local media report that the barrier lake area is expected to receive 700-800 millimeters of rainfall over the next four days.
