On Monday, during a high-level UN conference, countries like Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, and Belgium officially recognized the Palestinian state.

Over the past weekend, Canada, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Australia also declared their recognition of Palestine.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas delivered a speech via video link, as he was unable to attend due to the U.S. visa denial, urging for the recognition of Palestine.
«We call on those who have not yet done so to follow this example,» he stated, promising reforms and elections within a year after a ceasefire.
Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Luc Frieden announced the official recognition of Palestine, saying, «Rarely has the prospect of a two-state solution seemed so distant, yet international will remains united in its pursuit».
Malta and Belgium also recognized Palestine, with Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela commenting that the two-state solution is the «worst possible outcome for Hamas».
Belgium’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever stated that Belgium is joining the countries recognizing Palestine,
adding that Brussels will proceed with legal recognition after the release of hostages and the removal of terrorist organizations like Hamas from Palestinian governance.
French President Emmanuel Macron declared that France officially recognizes Palestine to break the cycle of violence and to bring about peace.
