The government of the Czech Republic has decided to create a new coordination group aimed at protecting the country from threats posed by drones.

This was announced by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, as reported by Radio Prague International.

According to Fiala, the primary task of this group will involve monitoring technological developments and creating adequate safety measures.

"We must respond to the dangers posed by Russian drones. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our citizens and to be prepared for any potential threats. That is why we decided to establish a coordination group under the Council of National Security to protect our state from drones," Fiala stated.

The group will consist of experts from various ministries, including defense, internal affairs, transport, as well as representatives from the Czech army and police.

"This is another step towards enhancing the safety of our citizens. In this way, we strengthen our country's defense against new threats that we observe in close proximity," the Prime Minister emphasized.

He also noted that this move aligns with the direction of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

"We are simply obligated to pay close attention to drone defense," Fiala remarked.

Defense Minister Jana Černochová stated that the government aims to pursue a multi-layered air defense strategy that goes beyond just addressing drones.

"The fact that we are currently finalizing a tender for the procurement of several hundred drones of various types also fits into this concept," she added.

It is worth recalling that on September 10, the airspace of Poland was violated by about twenty Russian drones. Debris was found in various regions of the country, with some drones reaching nearly 300 km from the eastern border. In response, the North Atlantic Alliance decided to initiate an operation named "Eastern Sentry" to strengthen its eastern flank. By September 13, Poland reported the actual start of the announced mission.
