The Israeli military cabinet approved a plan to take control of Gaza City on the morning of August 8.

This was reported by Reuters.

According to a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office: "The Israel Defense Forces will prepare to establish control over Gaza City while also providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside of combat zones".

The agency notes that this came just hours after Netanyahu stated that Israel intends to take military control of the entire strip, despite increasing criticism both domestically and internationally regarding the devastating war that has been ongoing for nearly two years.
