The «Ukrainian Bookshelf» project has expanded its reach by launching in the Bangkok city library, the capital of Thailand.
This was announced by Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
What to know about the Ukrainian bookshelf in Thailand
«I am grateful to Thailand for becoming the 59th country in our global project, which now includes over 250 shelves and 57,000 books,» emphasized the President's wife.
The new shelf features 60 books from various genres, ranging from fiction to children's literature.
Notably, a special edition is the collection «Soul of the Earth: A History of Ukraine in Ten Poems,» which includes works by Ukrainian poets translated into Thai for the first time.
In the last month, the project has also significantly expanded in Europe and beyond.
New shelves have been established in two cities in Poland (Katowice and Szczecin), three cities in Hungary (Vác, Kisvárda, Záhony), in Portugal (Santa Maria da Feira), and even in the Republic of South Africa at the National Library.
«Thanks to our consulates and embassies. Ukrainian books are traveling to Ukrainians and introducing our cultural roots to friends in various countries who wish to learn about us not just through the news, but through literature and scholarly works,» concluded Zelenska.
