On April 13, 2025, the official opening of Ukraine's pavilion titled “Not For Sale” took place at the World Expo EXPO 2025 in Osaka.
This pavilion features a unique concept of “A Store Where Nothing Is for Sale,” as reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
Notable guests included the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Japan, Yoshihiko Okabe, and Japan's Minister of Economy, Kentaro Morita.
On its opening day, the pavilion welcomed around 5,000 visitors.
Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, noted that the pavilion generated significant interest, necessitating traffic regulators to manage the crowd.
According to her, the pavilion receives up to 1,500 visitors each hour, with projections estimating around 23 million people will visit it over six months.
She emphasized that this is an important opportunity to showcase Ukrainian values and resilience to the world.
The pavilion “Not For Sale” displays 18 exhibits, each symbolizing a specific human value such as freedom, dignity, and resilience.
Each object has a real barcode that visitors can scan with special devices.
Upon scanning, instead of prices, videos from Ukraine appear, illustrating the true “value” of such concepts as the right to education, freedom of choice, and access to healthcare.
Adjacent to the main pavilion is a “Values-Driven Economy” zone showcasing products from Ukrainian companies that continue to operate despite the ongoing war.
On April 15, Ukraine will host a series of panel discussions at the UK pavilion focused on the role of values in the economy and the importance of cultural and economic resilience.
EXPO 2025 in Osaka will run from April 13 to October 13, 2025, placing the Japanese city at the center of global attention.
This landmark event, organized by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), unfolds under the theme of “Designing the Future Society for Our Lives.”
It is expected that over 28 million visitors will attend the exhibition during its 184-day run, uniting approximately 161 countries and 9 international organizations to explore the pathways of human development.
The central theme of EXPO 2025 is to create a “People's Laboratory for Future Society,” where 8 billion people can not only learn about innovations but also actively participate in shaping the future.
This global platform focuses on three key sub-themes: “Saving Lives,” addressing health and environmental sustainability issues; “Empowering Lives,” dedicated to education, technology, and unlocking human potential; and “Connecting Lives,” emphasizing the importance of collaboration and communication.
The primary goal of the expo is to find effective solutions to pressing global challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
