The military leaders of France and the UK held talks with Ukrainian officials to discuss the urgent needs and tasks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during their visit to the capital.

This information was reported by the press service of the French General Staff, as noted by "European Pravda".

On Friday, April 4, the chiefs of staff of the French and British armies arrived in Kyiv, where they met with Ukraine's top military leadership.

According to the General Staff, the purpose of this visit was to clarify the needs and tasks of the Ukrainian military in order to provide them with stable support for reconstruction and development.

"Strengthening the Ukrainian army is critically important and serves as the first guarantee of the country's security in achieving lasting peace in Ukraine," they emphasized.

The statement also noted that France and the UK would continue to closely cooperate within the framework of an international coalition to deter any new aggression from Russia after peace is achieved.

"The dynamic of Franco-British cooperation will continue in future discussions, making a significant contribution to the security of the European continent," they added.

General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of the French General Staff, commented on the visit, highlighting that the goal was to provide decisive support to Ukraine in its ongoing struggle.

On March 27, in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that a Franco-British mission would head to Ukraine to bolster its military capabilities. He also mentioned that work was ongoing regarding the potential deployment of so-called "guaranteeing forces" to Ukraine.

On March 28, President Zelensky announced a meeting at the level of general staffs in Ukraine dedicated to potential military deployments.

The President stated that this would be the "first in-depth meeting" where discussions would involve "certain clarifications and details".
