Latvia intends to send 42 new Patria 6×6 armored vehicles to Ukraine by 2025.

According to information from the Latvian Ministry of Defense, most of the vehicles will be new, as reported by LSM.lv.

Delivery of Patria Armored Vehicles to Ukraine

These armored vehicles are produced by the Latvian company SIA Defence Partnership Latvia.

“We continue to support Ukraine. Looking at previous years, we were able to provide assistance from our reserves. However, this year we see the need to invest in financing and also procure weapons that we provide to Ukraine,” noted Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.

Last year, Latvia provided military aid to Ukraine amounting to approximately 100 million euros, and a similar level of support is planned for 2025 and 2026.

Specifications of Patria Armored Vehicles

Patria AMV (Armored Modular Vehicle) is a multi-role military vehicle with an 8×8 wheel configuration, manufactured by the Finnish company Patria.

The main feature of the AMV is its modular design, which allows various systems to be mounted on a single platform. There are projects for different versions of armored personnel carriers (APCs) and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), as well as communication versions and medical vehicles.

The vehicle was initially designed in 6×6, 8×8, and 10×10 configurations, but the 10×10 version was later discarded.

Latvia Sends 100 FPV Drones to Ukraine

Earlier, Latvia, as part of the initiative “Drones for the Armed Forces,” transferred 100 domestically produced FPV drones to Ukraine.

The funds for the drones were raised during a charity event organized by Latvia's Foreign Minister Baiba Brite.

The Latvian Ministry of the Interior has developed amendments to the national security law that prohibit citizens of Russia and Belarus from working in critical infrastructure facilities.

In December, Latvia also provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of 612 confiscated vehicles worth 2.25 million euros.
