As of the morning of January 27, new blackouts are reported in four regions due to missile and drone strikes. Bad weather has also affected over 500 settlements in seven regions. According to NEC "Ukrenergo" on Facebook, "During the night, the enemy launched strikes on the energy infrastructure in several regions. As a result, there are new blackouts reported in Kharkiv, Odesa, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Restoration works are already underway where the security situation allows".
Furthermore, due to adverse weather conditions (severe icing causing power line freezing), more than 500 settlements were completely or partially deprived of electricity in Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Kyiv regions. Energy crews have already started repairing the damaged power networks.
Due to the complicated situation in the energy system caused by Russian attacks, emergency power outages are currently being implemented in some regions. In other areas, power limitation schedules for industries and hourly disconnection schedules for the population are in effect.
As of 9:30 AM Tuesday, electricity consumption exceeded the previous day's level by 1.8% due to reduced power outages in certain areas.
"Throughout the day, there is a need for energy conservation in all regions of Ukraine. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours after 11 PM", the statement from Ukrenergo added.
The Ministry of Energy reports that there is a significant electricity deficit in Kyiv and Kyiv region, and emergency power outages are being implemented.
Moreover, consumers in frontline and border regions remain long-term disconnected due to ongoing combat actions.
On the morning of January 27, Russian forces attacked an infrastructure facility in Lviv region.
