Since the beginning of August, Russia has carried out nearly 300 strikes on the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia. Every day, railway workers restore the infrastructure within an average of 4 hours after attacks, allowing train services to resume. This was reported by Oleksiy Kubela, Minister of Community and Territorial Development, on Facebook.
During the full-scale invasion, 221 railway workers were injured, and 37 lost their lives while on duty.
"Thanks to the railway workers, even after massive nighttime bombardments, trains continue to operate. In areas where tracks or stations are damaged, combined routes – train and bus – are implemented," he noted.
"Recently, six new carriages manufactured at the Kryukiv Wagon Plant set off on their journey. Five of them were sent to Kharkiv, and one to Dnipro. These are frontline routes with the heaviest load on the system," Kubela stated.
These carriages are the final ones in a batch of 66 ordered by Ukrzaliznytsia last year, the minister mentioned.
More than 160 Ukrainian companies are involved in the production, including those relocated from temporarily occupied territories, he added.
