16 people, including 4 children, lost their lives and dozens were injured due to a massive Russian assault on Kyiv during the night of August 28.

This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky, head of the Kyiv Military Administration Timur Tkachенко, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko via Telegram.

Tkachенко stated, "The death toll from the enemy attack has risen to 12. Unfortunately, among them are three children: ages 2, 17, and 14."

By around 11 a.m., Klymenko reported that the number of deceased in the capital had increased to 13.

At 12:19, Tkachенко reported that 15 people had died as a result of the Russian attack, including 4 children. By 14:05, the number of fatalities had reached 16.

Among the deceased are children aged 2, 14, and 17. Klymenko mentioned that one child was recovered at the strike site, while two died in the hospital from severe injuries.

A total of 38 people were injured in the attack.

"Another 10 people are considered missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the impact sites," the Interior Minister noted.

The Mayor of the capital reported that among the injured are children aged 7, 10, and 11.

"Today's Russian missiles and attack drones are a clear response to those around the world who have called for a ceasefire and real diplomacy. Russia chooses ballistic attacks instead of negotiations. It continues the killings rather than ending the war, showing it fears no consequences," emphasized Zelensky.

He added that Ukraine is awaiting a reaction from China regarding the situation, as the PRC has repeatedly called for the non-escalation of the war and a ceasefire.

"This situation persists because of Russia. We expect Hungary to respond. The death of children should evoke greater emotion than anything else. We expect a reaction from everyone in the world who called for peace but is now silent rather than taking principled stances," the president stated.

He called on the world to impose new severe sanctions against Russia for its actions.

"All deadlines have passed, and numerous opportunities for diplomacy have been squandered. Russia must feel responsible for every strike, for every day of this war," Zelensky concluded.
