On the night of August 21, an impressive operation took place in the Kyiv region, resulting in the destruction of about 50 Russian drones using intercepting drones. This was reported by Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv regional military administration.
«Thanks to the “Clean Sky” project, our specialists intercepted nearly fifty enemy drones that night. I express my gratitude to our defenders for their courage and professionalism,» he noted.
The alert lasted over seven hours, but there were no hits on critical or residential infrastructure. According to Kalashnyk, there were no casualties among the population.
It is worth reminding that the “Clean Sky” project began in the spring of 2025 in response to mass attacks by kamikaze drones. Defenders use intercepting drones to destroy enemy UAVs before they can harm civilians and infrastructure.
In May, Kalashnyk announced the formation of new teams and the training of interceptor operators. He added that the project’s experience is already being actively extended to other regions of Ukraine.
On August 18, he reported that since the start of the project, nearly 900 enemy drones had been intercepted.
