Explosive Risks in Ukraine: Recent Casualty Updates

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, 1,265 individuals have suffered from mines and explosive remnants, including 127 children.

This information was provided by the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Ecological Safety via social media.

“The Main Department is responsible for monitoring and verifying incidents related to explosive remnants of war and affected civilians,” the statement read.

As of August 6, a total of 1,265 casualties have been reported, among which there are 1,138 adults.

The highest number of casualties comes from professions such as farmers — 235 individuals, critical infrastructure workers — 137, drivers — 88, students — 118, unemployed — 125, and retirees — 105.

“Data collection is conducted systematically in accordance with the action plan for implementing international conventions,” the department noted.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies open criminal proceedings regarding violations of warfare rules by Russia for each incident of detonation.

An established database and interactive map assist government and humanitarian organizations in informing the population about risks and providing aid to victims.
