Six children have returned from areas temporarily occupied by Russia. Among them are a brother and sister who had previously tried to escape, as well as a girl threatened to be taken away from her mother by the occupiers.
This information was provided by the initiative Bring Kids Back UA.
Human rights advocates recounted the stories of several children, including Maria and her mother, who faced constant pressure from the occupying authorities after the death of their father.
“The family was forced to obtain Russian documents since they could not resolve even basic daily issues without them. The mother was also threatened with having Maria taken away if the girl did not attend a Russian school,” the message stated.
Eventually, the situation became so critical that the family had to seek help for evacuation.
Additionally, a brother and sister – Pavel and Anna – were rescued. The younger child had health issues but lacked access to necessary medical care. The family had repeatedly attempted to leave the occupation on their own, but it was practically impossible without Russian documents.
“Currently, all the children and their families are safe in territory controlled by Ukraine. They are receiving assistance for rehabilitation and adaptation to their new lives,” concluded the human rights advocates.
