Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has announced new peace initiatives during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The ceasefire will be in effect from 00:00 on May 8 until 00:00 on May 11, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

Putin stated that the Ukrainian side should also follow this example.

He added that in the event of violations of the ceasefire by Ukraine, Russian forces will respond appropriately.
