The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, are holding talks in Rome during the funeral of Pope Francis.

This was reported by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, as noted by "European Truth".

He indicated that the presidents are focusing on "continuing efforts for peace" in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine.

"Currently: Volodymyr Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron are engaged in a one-on-one discussion regarding the continuation of peace efforts," wrote Andriy Sybiha.

Prior to this, Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump and stated that this meeting has the potential to be historic. The White House described the meeting as very productive.

Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration provided Ukraine in Paris with a document referred to as the "final proposal" for peace negotiations. Among other points, the US is willing to recognize Russia's control over Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.

On April 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the US proposed its strategy regarding Ukrainian territories during talks in London, but he noted that after the American proposal, "another paper" emerged.
