On April 2, the last medical and social expert commission (MSEC) operating in the Cherkasy region was dissolved.
This was announced by the head of the Cherkasy regional military administration, Ihor Taburets.
"Finally, the deputies have resolved the issue concerning MSEC. They have supported the project we proposed from the very beginning."
"This municipal institution will join the regional information and analytical center for medical statistics, transferring all archives.", – noted Ihor Taburets.
The bill for the final dissolution of MSEC was supported by the Verkhovna Rada on December 19, 2024. The explanatory note stated that the MSEC system does not meet the "modern challenges" faced by Ukraine during the war and the "current approaches to disability determination". Instead, it was proposed to create expert teams of doctors.
Starting from 2025, MSECs were being phased out in every region. However, in Cherkasy, regional council deputies failed to pass this vote three times due to a lack of quorum, as reported by Suspilne. Cherkasy.
Nevertheless, the reform was not affected, as since January, expert teams of doctors have been formed in the region to replace MSEC.
Previously, we provided a detailed overview of the MSEC reform and its implications for doctors and patients.
