Today at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, an important event took place as part of the international campaign «16 Days Against Violence», aimed at unveiling the truth about violence in society.
As reported by the university, students, faculty members, representatives of NGOs, law enforcement, deputies, and experts participated in the event. The moderator was Alla Shlapak, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council and the university's vice-rector.
«Our university actively engages in initiatives aimed at combating violence. We have a crisis center and psychological services for students and faculty, and we are always prepared to respond to challenges», – said Acting Rector Oleksandr Turuntsev.
To draw attention to the issue of violence, the public organization «Women’s Political Action Alliance» presented an installation symbolizing the desire for open discussion about violence, particularly domestic and gender-based violence.
During the event, participants discussed the importance of implementing the Istanbul Convention in Ukraine, emphasizing the need not only to respond to incidents of violence but also to actively work on prevention. Kyiv is also focusing on rehabilitating victims and providing psychological and legal support.
University students will participate in a survey to assess their awareness of the violence issue.
