Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security have uncovered two officials from the Poltava City Council suspected of embezzling budget funds during the procurement of drones for the military.

This was reported by the press service of the Bureau.

During the investigation, it was revealed that at the end of December 2023, the director of the Department of Civil Protection and his subordinate purchased nearly 39 million UAH worth of quadcopters for military units.

According to the report, the Bureau identified an artificial price inflation of 5 million UAH.

Both officials, as well as the head of the supplier company, have been charged with offenses under part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) and part 1 of Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, the two suspects are under house arrest.

According to Youcontrol, until the beginning of 2024, the Department of Civil Protection of the Poltava City Council was headed by Serhiy Syrytsia.
