The CEO of the mobile operator "Kyivstar", Oleksandr Komarov, stated that the company is currently facing one of its toughest times regarding electricity supply since summer 2024, with about 30% of the network lacking power. Komarov shared this information on his Facebook page.
According to him, 5 regional tech centers are operating on generators. Overall, the network relies on batteries and generators, while around 4% of sites have become inoperable.
Komarov also advised Kyivstar internet users to ensure backup power for their routers to help ease network load during blackouts.
"As of mid-November, only 15-20% of Home Internet subscribers have arranged for backup power for their routers. During a recent complete blackout in the Poltava region, the customer backup was only 2%.
Everything is interconnected: users switch to mobile internet, increasing the load on base stations, reducing their operational autonomy, and degrading the quality of mobile connectivity and data transfer speeds," he noted.
