In Ukraine, November 20 marks the first celebration of Children's Protection Day, coinciding with Universal Children's Day.

This holiday was established by the Presidential Decree No. 355/2025 on May 30, 2025, and is celebrated annually.

Previously, Ukraine observed Children's Protection Day on June 1 according to the decree from May 30, 1998, which is now invalid.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to protect children and their future.

«Today, Ukraine honors the memory of the children whose lives were cut short by Russian terrorists. The aggressor denied them the chance to grow up in a peaceful country, to dream, and to enjoy their childhood. It is the duty of Ukraine and the entire civilized world to ensure that those who committed these inhuman crimes are held accountable. Our military is doing everything possible every day to protect children and our future», the statement reads.
