The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended an agent working for the FSB, who was coordinating enemy strikes in the Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi regions.
The main task of the detained individual was to supply the enemy with current photographs of energy facilities in both regions. This would have allowed them to assess the defenses and locations of critical equipment.
According to case materials, the arrested individual is a citizen of a Middle Eastern country residing in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region.
He came to the attention of Russian special services while seeking "easy earnings" through Telegram channels.
Documentation shows that after recruitment, the foreigner traveled in his own car, stopping near substations and thermal power plants close to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
While near potential targets, the agent photographed their perimeters and security posts.
Additionally, during reconnaissance missions, he recorded the locations of defense checkpoints at the entrances to populated areas.
SBU officers uncovered the agent at the early stages of his activity for the occupiers, catching him in the act while he was photographing a Ukrainian power substation.
During searches, investigators seized a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy.
Based on the collected evidence, the Security Service charged him with two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

•  Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 113 (preparation for committing sabotage during martial law);
•  Part 2 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset forfeiture.
Comprehensive measures were conducted by SBU personnel in the Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr regions under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor's office.
