The deputy director of the municipal enterprise KО "Kyivmedspetstrans" is suspected of embezzling nearly 2 million UAH allocated for the purchase of spare parts for ambulances. This was reported by the Kyiv city prosecutor's office.
"Under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, the deputy director of the municipal enterprise KО «Kyivmedspetstrans» has been informed of the suspicion of misappropriating funds designated for purchasing spare parts for emergency medical vehicles," the statement said.
It is suspected that during the tender process involving controlled companies, officials from KО "Kyivmedspetstrans" ensured the victory of a favored company by signing a contract amounting to 5.4 million UAH. Subsequently, the winner supplied spare parts at inflated prices.
Expert examinations determined that the price inflation exceeded 1.9 million UAH. Consequently, the deputy director, who signed the contracts, has been charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for misappropriating budgetary funds in collusion with a group of individuals.
Previously, a similar charge was brought against the head of the material and technical supply service of KО "Kyivmedspetstrans", who organized the procurement.
The penalties under these articles can reach up to 12 years of imprisonment, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in specific activities for up to three years and confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify those involved in the scheme.
