A baby from Ivano-Frankivsk, born with a cleft lip and palate, underwent a complex surgery thanks to doctors from various countries. This was reported by the Children's Medicine Center on their Facebook page.

«The infant from Ivano-Frankivsk was diagnosed with a bilateral cleft lip and palate type 3. At the age of four months, the first surgery, a cheiloplasty, was performed in collaboration with Professor DrHakan Ağır at our medical center. The results are already impressive, and there are more treatment stages ahead. Specialists from various cities and countries participated in this project,» the message stated.

This case received an award for the best clinical case at the 10th International Orthodontic Congress in Rio de Janeiro.

«This is a challenging pathology that requires comprehensive treatment. The family consulted us during pregnancy, and preparations for the surgery began in the first days of the baby’s life,» said pediatric and plastic surgeon Orest Leshnevsky.

3D scanning was conducted in Ivano-Frankivsk, and custom NAM plates were printed in Turkey to prepare the baby for surgery. For three months, the parents took care of the plates and regularly attended check-ups.

«Our doctors organized complex international logistics to deliver the plates to Ukraine, a true «medical special operation,» the Children's Medicine Center added.

This story clearly demonstrates that modern treatment of complex congenital pathologies is only possible through a multidisciplinary approach, international cooperation, and immense human warmth.
