Changes in Border Crossings Due to New Digital System

With the introduction of the new digital Entry/Exit System (EES), delays may occur at border crossings such as 'Yahodyn - Dorohusk' and 'Ustyluh - Zosin'. This was reported by the State Customs Service.
Starting November 3rd, all travelers crossing the border from the Polish side at these points must complete an initial registration at a self-service terminal or with a border guard.
"This involves scanning passports and collecting biometric data: photographs and fingerprints. Children under 12 are exempt from fingerprinting. During subsequent entries, biometric data will be matched with existing information in the Schengen system," the border guards noted.
They emphasized that the implementation of the system at the beginning may lead to longer processing times.
"Therefore, we recommend planning trips with additional time or choosing alternative border crossing points," customs officials added.
It is worth noting that on October 27, there may have been delays at the 'Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice', 'Smilnytsia - Kroscenko', and 'Hrushev - Budomezh' border crossings due to the launch of the EES. From October 28, the EES system, which involves the collection of biometric data from third-country citizens, was implemented at all border crossings on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
