In the capital of Ukraine, counterintelligence and investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine have detained a foreign agent recruited by the FSB. This former military instructor from a European country was uncovered during an investigation.
It is known that he transmitted critical information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was planning terrorist acts.
At the beginning of 2024, the foreigner arrived in Ukraine to work as a mobilization training instructor but later decided to collaborate with Russian special services, posting offers in pro-Kremlin groups.
After recruitment, the FSB began assigning him tasks.
The agent provided the enemy with:
- information about foreign instructors he had previously communicated with;
- coordinates of the Armed Forces' training centers in southern Ukraine.
For the execution of future tasks, the occupiers sent him instructions for making explosive devices and coordinates of a stash from which he obtained a pistol with ammunition.
The SBU timely exposed the accomplice, documented his crimes, and arrested him in Kyiv.
SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. An investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the case.
The offender faces up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
