The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended two Russian agents who were directing enemy shelling in the southeast regions of the country. Both detainees shared a common FSB handler but operated in different areas: Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk. Their main task was to locate air defense positions and temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian forces.
Among the arrested was the head of security at a leading university in Dnipro, recruited by the occupiers through a relative working for a Russian special service.
To carry out their tasks, the Dnipro native involved a friend, the head of the water supply department in Huliaipole, located near the front line.
During air alerts, the agents traveled around the area in their cars, documenting the operations of Ukrainian air defense.
They also discreetly inquired with acquaintances about the locations of defense forces and later verified the obtained coordinates.
The SBU officers detained both agents and seized evidence of their collaboration with the enemy's intelligence service.
Currently, SBU investigators have informed the detainees of their suspicion under Article 28, Part 2, and Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed by a group of individuals in a state of war).
The offenders are in custody without the right to bail and face life imprisonment.
