The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is actively enhancing its defenses against cyber threats. In line with order No. 692/нм issued on October 15, a new Sectorial Security Profile has been approved, establishing key guidelines for safeguarding information systems that handle various types of information.
This document sets forth unified baseline requirements for cybersecurity across systems utilized by the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the State Special Transport Service. The profile has been developed in accordance with international standards and national legislation, considering the unique characteristics of the defense sector.
“By implementing unified cybersecurity principles, we can better protect our information assets and accelerate the introduction of new technologies,” emphasized Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Affairs.
The primary goal of the new profile is to create a standardized data protection system, enhance cybersecurity levels, and simplify compliance assessments. The profile includes requirements for access, data protection, security monitoring, and recommendations for implementing administrative and technical measures. All divisions that will work with the profile will undergo training on its application.
It is worth noting that the Sectorial Security Profile was developed in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated June 18, 2025, No. 712, and is mandatory for all systems processing open, confidential, or official information (except for automated systems of class “1”).
