A new initiative aimed at supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) was launched in Kyiv — "Shelter. Work". This program is designed to assist IDPs in finding employment and housing to facilitate their integration into new communities. The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reported this news.
The "Shelter. Work" platform features job vacancies with housing provided by employers, retraining programs, and utilizes artificial intelligence for job searches. It exemplifies collaboration between the government and businesses.
“When a person has a place to live and the opportunity to work, they do not just survive; they become part of the local community, pay taxes, raise children, and contribute to community development. "Shelter. Work" is a practical solution to combine these two aspects,” stated Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin.
Member of Parliament and project initiator Galina Yanchenco explained that the "Shelter" initiative started on the first day of the full-scale invasion, initially as a social media group that helped over 1 million Ukrainians find housing.
“Initially, this project was just a means for IDPs to find free housing. However, now it is not just about finding a place to live; it’s about providing people with a chance to start anew,” she said.
