The Ukrainian security services, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, have uncovered yet another attempt of enemy infiltration into the nation's defense sector.
Following extensive operations in the Mykolaiv region, a lab technician and a mechanic were detained for providing information to Russian military intelligence.
Investigations revealed that the agents operated independently, leaking data about the locations of production facilities and security details of these sites to the occupiers.
Additionally, Russian operatives sought to gather information about defense contracts being executed by the company through their informants.
The detainees also reported on the outcomes of missile-drone attacks on the port city and monitored the movements of Ukrainian troops.
The SBU detected the hostile activities and apprehended both agents during their work shifts.
Both individuals had come under the radar of Russian military intelligence due to their anti-Ukrainian comments on social media platforms.
During searches, smartphones containing media files and coordinates of defense sites targeted for air strikes were seized from the suspects.
Based on the collected evidence, the SBU has charged the agents under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
The perpetrators are currently in custody without the right to bail, facing life imprisonment with property confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were conducted by the SBU in the Mykolaiv region under the supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
