The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, along with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has signed a financial agreement that initiates the program "Renewable Energy Solutions". This was reported in an official statement from the ministry.
The initiative, valued at 16.5 million euros, includes the installation of solar panels, heat pumps, and battery systems at social infrastructure facilities such as schools, hospitals, and kindergartens.
The document was signed in Kyiv by Alona Shkrum, the First Deputy Minister, and Christoforos Politis, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Ukraine.
"Energy independence is not just a strategic goal, but an urgent necessity for recovery right now," Shkrum emphasized.
She noted that the deployment of renewable energy sources, particularly in frontline regions, will ensure the continuity of services for the most vulnerable populations, even during network disruptions.
The UNDP representative highlighted that the agreement supports the "green transition" and facilitates a swift move from plans to action, rebuilding the country in a more environmentally friendly manner while supporting education and healthcare, making communities more resilient.
