The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has revealed a new infiltration by Russian intelligence within the defense units of Ukraine.
As part of a special operation in Lviv, a citizen of the Russian Federation was arrested after volunteering for one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units and began working for the FSB.
This individual was responsible for coordinating Russian missile strikes in the Lviv region.
To execute his hostile tasks, the agent transmitted the coordinates of his unit's temporary bases and adjacent military units to the FSB.
He also provided the enemy with geolocations of armored columns, transit warehouses, and vehicle depots along the Ukrainian border.
It has been established that the Russian maintained contact with his handler through anonymous chat applications, utilizing three smartphones with different European carriers.
However, this did not aid the enemy. SBU officers documented the agent's activities and arrested him as he was heading to an ATM to check for money transfers from Russia.
Investigators revealed that the FSB had involved his brother from Russia to recruit him.
The agent has been informed of his suspicion by the SBU.
The perpetrator is currently in custody, and the operation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
