Although it's still September, winter has arrived in the Carpathians, as reported by the State Emergency Service.
This morning on Mount Pip Ivan, snow, fog, and a northern wind at 4 m/s were recorded, with air temperatures dropping to -3°C. The mountains have swiftly transitioned into winter mode, making conditions especially dangerous for tourists.

According to forecasts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, cold weather is expected in the coming nights:

  • In the western regions, except for Transcarpathia, ground frosts of 0–5 °C are anticipated (October 2);
  • In Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions, ground frosts of 0–5 °C are also expected (October 3). A yellow warning (Level I) has been issued;
  • In Prykarpattia and also on the 3rd in Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions, air frosts of 0–3 °C are forecasted. An orange warning (Level II) has been issued.

Be sure to stay warm and exercise caution while traveling in the mountains — winter is making its presence felt.
