The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another Russian agent in the Khmelnytskyi region. This individual was collecting data on local military sites and defense factories that were being targeted for combined drone and missile attacks.
The investigation revealed that the agent was a local worker who came under the radar of Russian intelligence while seeking "easy money" through Telegram channels.
To gather intelligence, he extracted "necessary" information during casual conversations with acquaintances.
He also conducted field reconnaissance, taking photographs of potential targets and marking their coordinates on Google Maps.
Cyber specialists from the SBU documented the agent's subversive activities and caught him "in the act" while attempting to film near a potential target.
During searches, his smartphone was seized, containing evidence of his collaboration with enemy forces.
SBU investigators informed the detained individual of his suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is currently in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with asset forfeiture.
The operations were carried out by SBU employees in the Khmelnytskyi region in cooperation with the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
