Ukrainian Security Service Uncovers FSB Agent in Energy Sector

The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered an FSB agent within one of the leading energy companies in the country. Following a series of operational measures in the Kyiv region, an IT specialist was arrested for providing information to Russian forces regarding critical infrastructure.
The investigation revealed that the agent attempted to pass coordinates of underground backup centers of the company's information systems to the occupiers.
These technological repositories ensure the uninterrupted operation of Ukraine's energy system.
Additionally, the enemy aimed to acquire geolocation data of gas turbine generators set up for alternative energy supply to Kyiv residents in case of damage to electrical substations.
SBU operatives timely identified the Russian agent, documented his criminal activities, and apprehended him.
During searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized.
The agent received assignments from the FSB through a relative who previously led a banned pro-Kremlin party in Ukraine and is currently collaborating with Russian intelligence in the left bank of Kherson region. In September 2022, this relative received a notice of suspicion for treason from the Security Service investigators.
Based on the collected evidence, the SBU charged the energy company official under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is currently in custody, facing life imprisonment and asset confiscation. The operation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the General Prosecutor.
