In Kyiv, authorities have uncovered a group attempting to profit from military conscripts. Among those arrested were medical professionals.
The perpetrators devised a plan that allowed individuals to register for caregiver status for an ill relative, thereby evading the draft. A 43-year-old woman from Kyiv spearheaded this scheme, enlisting two accomplices who were medical staff.
She offered clients a service to arrange necessary documentation for a fee, only requiring copies of identification and personal information, which she passed on to the doctors.
The doctors then created fraudulent certificates without conducting any medical examinations. The documents falsely indicated health conditions that supposedly required constant care for the ill relative.
Once the medical paperwork was ready, the organizer provided it to the client in exchange for $3,500, allowing the client to evade conscription and travel abroad as an accompanying person.
Law enforcement documented the criminal activities of the perpetrators. Searches were conducted at the homes and workplaces of the suspects, uncovering forged medical documents, communication devices, cash, and other evidence.
The criminals have been detained and have already been formally charged. Depending on their roles, they face potential imprisonment under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including illegal transportation of individuals across the border.
The prosecutorial oversight is being managed by the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv.
