The security services of Ukraine have apprehended three individuals involved in arson across various regions. These offenders, recruited by Russian operatives, sought easy money through Telegram channels.
Instead of the promised quick profits, they now face criminal charges and possible imprisonment.
In Kharkiv, a young man was arrested for setting fire to a military vehicle undergoing maintenance.
The perpetrator used flammable substances to commit the crime and was caught while preparing for further attacks.
In the Chernivtsi region, police apprehended a recidivist who received an order to set fire to energy facilities, involving an accomplice. Both were arrested after igniting a local relay cabinet.
SBU investigators have already informed the suspects of their charges under Ukrainian law:
- Art. 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces);
- Art. 113 (diversion by prior conspiracy).
The detainees are currently in custody and may face penalties ranging from 8 years to life imprisonment. The operation was conducted in Kharkiv and Chernivtsi with the involvement of SBU and the National Police.
