Kyiv is hosting a remarkable event that allows people to learn more about Japanese culture and traditions. The annual festival titled 'Japanese Autumn 2025' is taking place until September 7 at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The event is organized by the Ukrainian-Japanese Center of KPI.
The festival program includes a variety of master classes, lectures from experts, Japanese language classes for all ages, as well as demonstrations of tea ceremonies, Japanese dance, and martial arts. Concerts featuring traditional Japanese musicians will also be held.
In the KPI library, visitors can explore thematic exhibitions, including ikebana arrangements, temari balls, oshibana artworks, kimonos, and Japanese ceramics, along with sumi-e paintings.
On the Knowledge Square, a book fair organized by 'Safran' publishing house, which specializes in Eastern literature, as well as accessories for crafts, games, and Japanese cuisine delicacies is taking place.
As part of the festival, the State Polytechnic Museum is hosting an art project titled 'Paths. Peoples. Artists', which explores the connection between theater and cinema.
This project discusses the Japanese Noh theater, Italian Commedia dell'arte, and the Ukrainian Vertep, all of which share the use of masks. Themed discussions are scheduled for Sunday.
Admission to all events is free.
